07:19 am - Going to the chapel...
You can skip the second act of The Wedding Singer. In fact, you can just skip it all together. To quote Dona, "He should have married Linda. She was awesome." Word.

Oliver had to go to Troy this morning so I woke up with him and went to the gym. I'm SO one of those women that Cathy Wellerstein talks about - "the 600 girls who are younger and thinner than me who have already been to the gym." Rock on.

I'm spending a rare, Friday evening at home. I plan on snuggling in with my cats and some Sex and the City. I plan on taking a long walk home via Union Square and stopping in at The Strand. Sounds like a good Friday to me!

Wow, I just learned that a student from my alma mater has gone missing. It's totally freaky. A professor who I keep in touch with said there's a really eerie mood that's settled among the student and professional community alike.

These are the things you don't want your college to make the news about.

12:28 pm - Eeek!
I've been nursing a bit of sore shoulder since Thursday. Last night, I went over to Oliver's to watch Syracuse win the Big East Conference Championship. When they won, I promptly pumped my fist in the air and...oof! Sore. Oliver thoroughly massaged it yesterday and this morning, but I think I bought myself an afternoon on my heating pad. It's not a bad thing.

I could use some peace and quiet and a few episodes of the Sopranos.

Took my first official birthday gift out for a spin. Thanks, Dona, for the gorgeous seatbelt bag!

Dinner at Babbo was absolutely delicious. Oliver really has a taste for fine food and my tastebuds have certainly been expanded since we began dating. We did the traditional tastings menu, which consisted of 8 amazing courses - one better than the next. I have to say, though, my favorite course was the papadelle with chartrelles in a butter/thyme sauce. I think I'm still dreaming about it. We shared a bottle of wine and dined with the likes of Natalie Portman. If that isn't class, I don't know what is!

The tastings menu was about $70 a head. While some may balk at the price, it's truly an event - equate it to an evening at the theater. It's certainly not something you do every week, but it's certainly a nice treat for a special occasion, like a birthday. And, from someone who has been there, it's totally a bargain considering what you get and the quality of the cuisine.

MMMMMM. Yummy.

04:47 pm - Creeping Crud! The Sequel
Turns out it looks like it's a reaction to a spider bite. The doctor said it was actually moderate - I would hate to see what severe looks like.

One shot of cortizone and a barrel of cortaid later, I should be fine. In fact, he said I should see marked relief within 24 hours. Whew!

So the little rash on both of my legs has spread to my stomach and arms. Itchy! Itchy!

Waiting to see this doctor. This stinks.

04:33 pm - Best Bets
It’s about freakin’ time I updated.

I had a really nice holiday with my family. I can’t believe how thoughtful some of my gifts were! Some of my highlights were:

Elsa Peretti “Seastar” Bracelet from Tiffany (Oliver)
Polish Cookbook (Oliver)
The Best of Cooking Light Cookbook (Brother Tim)
Rose/White/Yellow Gold Necklace (Mom & Dad)
New Nike Sneakers w/ Pink Logo (Mom & Dad)
Toaster Oven & Microwave Cart (Mom & Dad)
Bare Escentials Lip Glosses (Cousin)
Laura Mercier Body Souffle – Au Lait (Miss D.)

Overall, it’s been quiet on my front. A good friend of mine got engaged over Christmas, so I’m thrilled for her. Oliver is in Germany until January 7th, so I’m finding myself with some good old-fashioned free time. I’m using it to catch up on chores around the house that I’ve been neglecting for weeks and catching up on my Tivo.

I am, however, missing him big time. He’s called every day since he’s been gone, but it’s not the same. Blah. Blah. Blah. I’ll stop my wining.

I’m looking forward to the weekend – my friend Jen (from college) is coming into town on Friday and I’m looking forward to catching up with her. Saturday night, I’m heading over to a friend’s house for a full-on game night to ring in the New Year.
